I love being a member of the Junior League of Austin. They are such an amazing group of women that make BIG things happen in this city; I am proud to be one of them.
Every year, the Junior League pairs up with Jack Brown Cleaners and local media to get jackets donated, dry cleaned, and distributed to children in need of a winter coat. So many of us take our position for granted: we debate on which coat compliments our outfit, while others are searching for a t-shirt that has sleeves. I value the time I spend volunteering with JL of Austin because it is time well spent. It warmed my heart to see families come in on distribution day and pick out a new coat- instant gratification!
I encourage you to find a way to donate time or money to something that is important to you. It can be as simple as gathering items around your home that you no longer use; find a shelter or church that can get those products to the people that need them. Most shelters will have a list of high-demand items if you need some inspiration on what to give.
